Bangkok is the capital city of Thailand. The biggest and most modern city in the country. Don't doubt about the dating issue in the city. As an open city, a lot of foreigners come to Bangkok everyday, some are travellers, some are businessmen.
Some western men come to Bangkok for looking for women who are not only demure, but also cook, clean and fill the old fashioned gender role. For men, Thailand is a paradise of very good-looking girls who may give a jobless vagabond like you the time of day.
Traditionally, women tend be more sexually reserved than in many western cultures. $ex is usually not brought up conversation and women tend to cover up more. Keep respectful and at least you won’t offend your date. Much of that is changing though and if you head to a night club you’ll see plenty of modern Thais aping Western fashion.
Thais are, for the most part, clean and hygienic. They prefer new fashion trends and trendy haircuts. They love pop music and often go after the money. This presumably is in contrast to most backpackers who wander into South East Asia smelling ripe, growing a beard and dreadlocks, wearing carefully tattered clothing and penny pinching along. This may be cool to all the other backpacking types, and if they’re your target fine. But for Thai ladies it is best to wash away all those badges of hard won travel and clean up.
Bangkok is famous for it’s prostitution. Many of the girls are sold to pimps in Bangkok by their families who are struggling to survive in the rural north east of Thailand. Supporting this side of the business is just plain irresponsible, even immoral.
There are plenty of independent sex workers in Bangkok though, girls who supplement their living with some ‘compensated dating’. Here the moral line gets a good deal finer and you’ll probably just have to follow your heart on this one.
Homosexuality is an open and mostly accepted part of Thai culture. A very large portion of men in Thailand are gay or have relations with a man at some time. Transvestites or “lady-boys” are very common. They have simply decided to look feminine and are largely socially accepted in female roles. This even extends to the point of switching school uniforms to wearing skirts instead of slacks. Homosexual male travelers in Thailand will find an accepting culture and likely more than a few offers from Thai men.
For Women
Western women might have a harder time finding your soul mate in Bangkok. It’s no wonder; Thai women are so gorgeous the competition is fierce. You might have better luck finding a lean “island boy” who spends most of his day tanning and fire dancing, often just to impress the ladies. Don’t get discouraged though, in a city as large as Bangkok there must be some cool Thai guys out there.
